We took a break from Asturias, in northern Spain to celebrate Belinda’s birthday. We didn’t travel far, just to the neighbouring region of Cantabria. We had a list of 3 beaches to visit. Camping in the van was a challenge, the weather was brutal – cold, rain and strong winds. And it’s supposed to be spring. On our final morning in the area we awoke at 5.45am. This was a semi lie-in as we parked close by! (although endured the village dogs barking all night).
The wind was shaking the van as the alarm sounded after the 3rd ‘snooze’, we nearly cancelled. I can’t remember which one of us managed to get up first but 15 minutes later we were somehow standing on the cliff top. It was still incredibly windy. The only way to get a shot was to set the camera to timer and both hold onto the tripod to stop it flexing with the gusts. It must have been hilarious to see. Good job it was just after 6am on a Sunday.
