Waiting for the sun to set on the pebbled beach of Findhorn. I looked around to discover potentially 3 or 4 scenes each giving a different illustration of the Scottish weather – at the same time!
Behind me to south the Cairngorms enjoyed clear blue skies. To east towards Burghead and Lossiemouth all was calm – the light wispy clouds were turning pink and reflecting in the sea.
But I was focused ahead, directly north, and that was a mixed picture – thick dark clouds hiding a amazing deep red sunset. I wasn’t getting great results, perhaps it was the seals swimming close to the shore that were distracting me – so I switches lens and attempted something different.
ICM (intentional camera movement) involves panning with the camera at the slow shutter speed (this was 1.0 second). I wanted to show the distinct layers of sea, mountain and sky and keep some definition.
I enjoyed practising the technique.
